Computer Task Force:

  • Karen O’Dowd has come to the School Board requesting some assistance in bringing the computer classes up to date.  She has compiled a list of tasks that need to be completed within a certain time frame.  The board has agreed to assist in any way possible to achieve these goals.

Principal’s Report:

  • Contracts were offered to the teachers before Spring Break and have to be signed/returned to me on Thursday, April 3rd.  They are not all returned yet.

  • I am still working on the 2008-2009 school calendar and it should be ready for print before the end of April.

  • Registration for the 2008-2009 school year is going very well ($11,550.00 fees were collected and banked during the Spring Break).  We have a total of 214 students as of today (which includes the new students).  We have no waiting list.

  • I received a donation of $524.62 from Target for Education and hope to use some of the money for our School Wish List.

  • We applied for the ADA (Average Daily Attendance) Safety and Educational Block grant from the Illinois State Board of Education for State-recognized nonpublic schools at the end of the 2006-2007 school year.  We had to calculate the daily attendance and average the best three months which was 214 (our student total for this year was 219).  Funding amount is about $32 per child (which totals over $6,000) and the expenditures should be spent on school safety.  We can use the money to tile the floors of Grade 1 and 2, the school offices and lounge which will make us “Asbestos free”.  We will receive our check direct deposit in late May.  We can re-apply for the 2007-2008 and the 2008-2009 school years.

  • Next school year we hope to use the Trimester quarters (which means we will have three quarters/report cards) of 12 weeks each quarter.  Mid-quarter reports will go home after six weeks.  Our online TeacherEase reports/report cards are working very well.

  • Our Junior High Dance this year is on Friday, April 25, from 6:30 – 9:30 p.m. in Kyle Hall for Grades 6-8 sponsored by the PTC.

  • Tuesday, April 29th is the Kane County Cougar Game and on Wednesday, April 30th is our annual Sport’s Banquet.  Thursday, May 1st is our school May Crowning and the 8th grade class receive their Ribbons.

  • We are collecting Ultra Food register receipts again from March 3rd – June 1st. We will get 5% of the total receipts.  Our last check was over $1,000 and the teachers are buying more Reading Counts, Ellison Dies, software, etc.
