School Board Meeting

Wednesday, June 4, 2008

Board Members Present: Sr. Zachary, Fr. Bob, Patricia Prodanovich, Jodee McGraw, Kathy Capra, Karen Jones, Teresa Perez, Tim Presi, Brian Prus, Jordon Wolf

Call to Order:  7:05 p.m.

Opening Prayer: 

Principal’s Report:

  • Both the Kindergarten and 8th grade Graduation were wonderful.  Family and friends were in attendance. 

  • ·        The 5th Grade DARE Graduation was well attended and the program was outstanding.    We had many VIP guests...the Police chief, Billie Roth, Marlene Berman, Trustees, Fr. Benedykt, and families of our students.

  • ·        I received 1 check for the Texas Hold’em.

  • ·        Enrollment as of today is 221 students and 163 families.   We received 98 returned Involvement forms for 2008-2009 (65 still not turned in).    Buy -outs received was $1000.00.

  • ·        2007-2008 tuition payments this year have been very good.    Only one report card was held back.

  • ·        Our “Game Day’ got rained out so we showed a movie with pop corn, bottled water, and air-conditioning in Kyle Hall.   All the students/teachers were satisfied and happy.   It was a rather calm last day of school.

  • ·        Our ‘End of the School Year Mass’ singing was a ‘GIFT’.   We all received Fr. Bob’s holy water blessing and prayer about ‘moving on up’.

  • The ‘school air-condition fund’ collected so far is almost $3,000 totaling from December and May.
  • Book Day is August 13th from 2 – 7 p.m.

Pastor’s Report:

  • Father Bob said he really enjoyed this past school year.
  • Needs School Board Members to attend the PPC Meetings, which are held 5 times a year on the 4th Tuesday of the month.  Dates are 9/23, 11/25, 1/27, 3/24, and 5/26.
  • Letters will go out to school/parish families to inform them how the monies from the fundraisers are allocated.  
  • Due to the flooding last year, construction will begin to route new sewer lines.  The digging will start behind the link of church and school, ripping out the entire ramp and possibly ripping out the west lot during the summer.  Drop-off and Pick-ups might be affected if this construction project goes into the school year.

Old Business:

Assignment of Job Positions:

  • Positions were reviewed for the 2008-2009 school year.  Most School Board members will retain the same job title.
  • Karen will be taking over Finance.  Brian has not decided to do Fundraising yet.  Kathy Capra will be the main contact for PPC.

Committee Reports:

  • No Reports were presented

New Business:

PPC

  • Kathy Capra will attend the PPC meetings with a member taking turns attending the meeting with her.
  • Trish will attend on 9/23, Jodee on 11/25, Tim on 1/27, Karen and Teresa on 3/24 and Edyta on 5/26.
  • Should any member be unable to attend, it is their duty to inform the School Board and to find a replacement.

Fundraising:

  • Trish presented a new fundraiser for the upcoming school year – Trivia Night.
  • The school she received information from said that it has a low overhead and makes a good profit.
  • Trivia Night will be on February 21, 2009.
  • Texas Hold’em tournaments will continue in a scaled back form.  There will be only two for the 2008-2009 school year.
