Trivia
Nigh/Planning:
-
Dawn O’Brien from St.
Phillip attended the meeting to explain how Trivia Night works.
-
Her school has been doing
it for 2 years. The first year profits were used to purchase
playground equipment. The second year for whiteboards in the
classroom.
-
The fee is nominal. The
first year fee was $20 per person and for the second year they
raised by $5. Each table has 10 participants.
-
The people in charge of
putting the Trivia questions cannot participate in the game. Two
people are needed to put together the questions.
-
Before the start and also
during the game there are raffles prizes, auction and quick games
between rounds.
-
Participants are allowed
to have themes for the event. They can also bring food and drink
(alcohol).
-
An emcee is needed for
the event to motivate the participants. Mr. Quinlan has volunteered
to do the job.
-
The 1st year
of the event is a just a trial. By the 2nd event, word
has gotten around that it is an entertaining night.
-
Be sure that the flyers
that are sent to the families announcing the event specify a cause
(where the money is going).
-
Game time is
approximately 3 ˝ hours. An information CD was given to Trish and
Brian that includes rules, etc.
-
Possible auction items
are Principal for the Day, Fr. Bob cooking dinner, lunch with a
D.A.R.E. officer, Easter and Christmas Pews.
-
A school in Algonquin
will be having a Trivia Night on Nov. 15. A group of School Board
and PTC members will attend to have a better understanding of the
game.
-
There will be another
meeting in December to further discuss the planning of this event.
