  • Parent/Teacher Conference sign-ups will be on both Parent Nights… more info later.

  • The Before/After School Program started today…  After School had over 50 students.

  • School is off to a Great Start!!

Pastor’s Report:

  • Due to the flooding last year, construction was to begin over the summer to route new sewer lines.  As of this date, we have no specific date when construction will begin.

  • When it does begin, the parking lot in front of the school might be completely torn (which will affect arrival/dismissal) or do a partial tear down.

  • A meeting will take place in the near future as to when the project will begin and what the costs will be.

  • Fr. Benedykt has a special mass for the youth of the parish including nearby parishes (St. Ansgar and St. Peter Damian).  They will participate in the mass and will later have a party in the Parish Center.

Market Day

·        The month of August had a profit of $324.61 with 52 customers.  This was a decrease of $95.96 and a decrease of 7 customers.

·        For the SJE school year 2007-2008, we had a profit of  $8,031.09 with 820 customers ordering.

·        For the Market Day year 2007-2008, we had a profit of $7,935.13 with 813 customers ordering.

·        The Freequent Buyer program begins with our September sale.  When a customer places a $35 order (before tax) for any 2 months between September and November, they will receive a free box of 4 Chic N Steaks in December with a $35 dollar order (before tax).  This will be repeated between February and April with the customer receiving a free insulated bag with their order in May.

·        This November we will be holding our 5th Annual Pie Bonus Days school fundraiser with our 9th Annual Food Pantry Pie Fundraiser.  I will have an information sheet with prizes listed for the October School Board meeting.

·        Market Day will also have Cookie Dough Bonus Days in December but that will not be a school wide fundraiser.

  • There will be an additional bonus days held in March or April.  Market Day has not given us any information on that yet.  This will also not be a school wide fundraiser.

Sports

  • Volleyball season has begun.  We have two teams: a 5th grade girls and 6th/7th grade girls (listed as 7th).

  • The game schedule has just been finalized with the conference, 5th grade will play 10 games and 7th grade will play 9 games plus a play-off.

  • Season ends at the end of October for 5th grade and early November for 7th grade.

  • There will be new uniforms this year.  They will have the last names of the players on the back.  The cost to the players was $18 and Sports Committee paid $8 for the shorts.

  • Esteban Rodriguez will contact U46 to confirm practice and game dates at Canton.  Practice is currently taking place at Streamwood Park district.

  • Basketball registration is underway.  We have 3 teams for sure and right now just short for a 4th team.  Two girls teams (5th and 6th grade girls) and 1 boys team (8th grade).  Between 5th, 6th and 7th grade boys, if we can get two or three more to sign up, we could have a combined 7th grade team.  Right now, we have 5 boys, which would mean no subs, and if one could not make a game, they have to either reschedule or forfeit.

  • Sports committee meets once a month.  Also attend a monthly conference meeting with the AD’s of all the other schools.

  • Sue Igielski will still be tracking the budget for the committee.  Mark LaRue will be the liaison with the Webmaster to ensure an updated sports page.
