  • As of January 4th, there are nine kindergarten students from school families for the 2010-2011 school year with 17 openings for registration at our CSW open house.

Pastor’s Report:

  • Peter Kippis, a parishioner at SJE, has made a mass attendance chart.  SJE had 7,100 people attend all Christmas masses for 2009.  That is a large increase from 2008 when 6,200 people attended mass.

  • The chart also shows that we had 154,000 people attend mass throughout 2009.  That’s a 4% increase from the previous years.

  • Most people are not aware that the ushers take a head count at each mass.

Budget Updates:

  • Karen Jones attended the Finance Council meeting and received the following guidance:

1.      Use actual figures from previous years.

2.      Budget for 188 students (current enrollment) and not less.

  • Tuitions cost figures have not been figured out yet.  Karen is waiting for the Archdiocese to announce at the end of the month whether teachers will be getting a salary increase or if it will be a salary freeze.

  • If the Archdiocese does increase salary by 4%, then tuition should be increased by 4%.  Even if there is no increase in salary, tuition should be raised by 4% to cover future costs.

  • The actual cost to teach a child per year is $4,728.  Currently, families are paying $3,305 per child per year (sometimes less in a family with multiple children).

  • School Board and PTC should have a fundraising meeting in the near future to discuss the future of fundraising at SJE.  The goal would be to have 2 or 3 big fundraisers instead of multiple small ones.

  • Father Bob suggested that the fundraisers be made mandatory.

  • Also another possibility in raising money for the school would be to have school families look into Corporate Matching Gifts by their employers.

Catholic Schools Week:

  • Mary Alice Benoit has designed an ad that will be placed in the Examiners for Streamwood, Hanover Park, and Bartlett.

  • This ad will also be placed in the area churches.  Trish will be contacting these churches to have the ad placed in their bulletins prior to CSW.

  • We will have speakers for St. Peter Damian on the 17th at the 5:30, 9:30 and 11:00 mass.  SMZ and Lily Rodriguez will speak at the 9:30 mass.  Will have to work on finding speakers for the other masses.  SMZ and Mrs. Gallione are working on speakers for SJE.

  • Brochures will also be handed out at all masses on that day.

  • Edyta Stykowska will speak at the Polish mass on the 24th.  Jessica will contact her to let her know of date and also contact Fr. Benedykt to inform him of this.  Edyta will have to touch base with him on that day.

  • On the 24th, children dressed in school uniform and will bring the gifts to the altar at SPD at the 9:30 mass.

  • Jessica will send an invite to Bob Miniskins to come take pictures of the opening mass and Open House.
