ABOUT THE TEACHER

Hello!  My name is Kathryn Centena.  I am very excited to be the second grade teacher!

I am the older of two children.  I have a younger sister who is 24.  My mom is a school nurse in Aurora, and my dad owns his own shoe repair in Geneva.  I was born in Melrose Park and raised in Aurora where I lived for 24 years.

In July of 2009, I was married here at St. John the Evangelist Church.  I now live in Gurnee with my husband.

I graduated from Benedictine University in Lisle in May 2004 with a degree in Elementary Education and a minor in history.  After graduating, I worked in Naperville as a Special Education Aide during the summer.  For two years, I taught first grade at a Catholic school in Waukegan.  Since 2006, I have been blessed to work at St. John the Evangelist School as the second grade teacher.

During my free time, I love spending time with my family, friends, and a dog, Jake.  I enjoy reading, drawing, traveling, swimming, and learning new things!

I cannot wait to see your bright smile on the first day of school.  As we grow in our faith, I look forward to the many adventures we will have learning new things this year!
