ABOUT THE TEACHER

Greetings,
My name is Joe Quinlan and I am the fifth grade teacher here at St. John the Evangelist School. This will be my fourth year teaching here and my sixth year teaching overall. Prior to becoming a teacher, I worked for over twenty years in corporate America, primarily in the customer service field. After the attack on 9/11, my job was eliminated and I was able to pursue a life-long career ambition of mine to become a teacher. I spent two years teaching fourth grade at Heritage Elementary before accepting the fifth grade position at St. John’s. I feel truly blessed to be here and am grateful for the warm reception that has been given to me by everyone associated with the school.
Now, some of you may also recognize me from my involvement with our church choir. I did take a leave of absence last year, but I am ready to once again loan my “talents” to our choir and look forward to seeing you at the 9:00 mass, so please feel free to stop by after mass and say hello.
In addition to these areas, I am co-chairperson of our Character Counts program. This year we will be starting a program to promote positive behavior within our school. Our slogan will be “Watch the SJE Tigers R.O.A.R.” We will be working on the disciplines of Respect, Organization, Attitude and Responsibility. I encourage you to work with your child and talk about how they can better achieve success by being respectful, being organized, having a positive attitude and taking responsibility for their actions. Together, we can truly make a difference.
I anticipate another great year ahead and look forward to meeting and working with you to make your child’s experience here a rewarding one.
With my sincerest thanks,
Mr. J. Quinlan
