ABOUT THE TEACHER
Hi!
My name is Mrs. Kruse and I have been the 7th grade homeroom teacher, and 6th-8th grade
Social Studies teacher at St. John the Evangelist School
since 2000. Previously I taught 5th grade at Catholic schools in the
Rockford and Joliet diocese, and was a special education aide in a middle school
prior to that. I have my Masters in
Education from Benedictine University, and I have a strong background in reading
and language arts, as well as certification Social Studies and Music. I
also coordinate the Before and After School Care Program.
I have been married to my husband, Larry, for over 35 years, and I have two grown children: David is 27 and is an auto technician at a local independent repair shop; his love of cars and engines as a small child has come to fruition. Our daughter Denise is 24, and just graduated from South Texas School of Law in Houston, Texas. She is very happy to be done with school and be home with family. My husband, Larry, was "early-retired" for over three years after a 9/11 downsizing, but returned to full-time work as a component engineer five years ago (although he has aspirations of returning to retirement as soon as I let him).
I enjoy teaching at the middle school level - there is never a dull moment! And they do make you laugh, sometimes. I also enjoy teaching the many facets of Social Studies.
